Helen Blakeley

In Autumn 2019, I got a chest infection, my breathing has never fully recovered. Numerous respiratory appointments later, a CT for an unrelated health issue led to a diagnosis of Hypogammaglobulinemia in late 2022. ,followed by confirmed CVID. Which I’m sure I’ve had all my life. The long lasting infections, lymph node biopsies, enlarged spleen , low platelets, low white blood cells all classic symptoms.

I now do weekly subcut infusions at home , which after three months has brought my IG levels into the normal range. The condition and the lifelong treatment , I’m still coming to terms with.

I find the lack of knowledge of the condition isolating. I wish there was better awareness and testing.
