As a child, I had a lot of earaches, viruses and infections. I had the short term, German Measles four times. Chronic Bronchitis in my teens, then many bouts of strep throat in college. My family doctors knew there was something wrong with my Immune system, but weren’t sure what.
My family doctor finally sent me to an allergist/immunologist when I was in my 40’s. He tested me, and diagnosed me with Primary Immunodeficiency, Common Variable Immune Deficiency.
I started IVIG. Later switched to subcutaneous IGG plasma protein therapy 50 grams every 4 weeks. Also on daily prophylactic antibiotic.
I’m 65, and strive to thrive with CVID.
