Celebrating Rare Disease Day 2022

It is Rare Disease Day!

World PI Week joins the efforts of the rare disease community worldwide to raise awareness and generate change for the 300 million people worldwide living with a rare disease, their families and carers.

Everyone living with a rare disease deserves to have access to the care they need.

Millions live with an inherited immune deficiency – or primary immunodeficiency (PID). On Rare Disease Day, we are calling for improved access to early diagnosis, treatment and quality care for each and every of them.

PID is a rare disease that occurs when the immune system is either absent or does not function properly. It is an umbrella term covering over 450 different types of diseases. PID affects an estimated 10 million people worldwide, yet between 70 and 90 percent of them are living without a proper diagnosis. Raising awareness of rare diseases such as PID can prevent the diseases from impacting quality of life and health outcomes.

Join us in celebrating Rare Disease Day 2022 today and World PI Week on 22-29 April to show solidarity and support access to quality care for all those living with PID and other rare diseases worldwide.
